  • What is ISO 17712?

ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the world’s largest developer of voluntary International Standards. A standard is a document that provides requirements, specifications, guidelines or characteristics that can be used consistently to ensure that materials, products, processes and services are fit for their purpose. ISO International Standards ensure that products and services are safe, reliable, and of good quality.

The ISO 17712 establishes “uniform procedures for the classification, acceptance, and withdrawal of mechanical freight container seals. It provides a single source of information on mechanical seals which are acceptable for securing freight containers in international commerce.”

  • What is C TPAT?

C TPAT is an abbreviation of “Customs – Trade Partnership Against Terrorism”. Since the founding of the Department of Homeland Security more than a decade ago, CBP and the trade community have collaborated to make international travel and trade easier, cheaper and more secure.

CBP’s approach to cargo security leverages these partnerships to efficiently focus resources on areas of high risk or strategic importance. In January 2012, the U.S. Government released the National Strategy for Global Supply Chain Security, which established the United States Government’s policy to strengthen the global supply chain to protect the welfare and interests of the American people and to enhance our Nation’s economic prosperity.

The C-TPAT program supports the Strategy by promoting the efficient and secure movement of legitimate goods and by fostering a global supply chain system that is resilient to natural as well as man-made disruptions. The program also supports the Strategy by improving detection capabilities to identify illicit cargo; maximizing efforts to facilitate the flow of legitimate trade; and fostering an international approach.

    C-TPAT Benefits:
    Makes Company More Competitive
    Protects Company’s Brand Image
    Enhances Marketing Opportunities
    Protects Your Industry
    Facilitates Globalization
    Demonstrates Good Corporate Citizenship
    Enhances Security in Supply Chain

  • About ISMA

The International Seal Manufacturer’s Association (ISMA) is open to all interested parties involved in the manufacture, distribution and use of security seals embracing mechanical disposable on-time use seals and electronic or mechanical re-usable seals. Membership depends on commitment to a Code of Ethics. Manufacturers are committed to leading their industry toward better products, improved security-related processes and more transparent business practices. These include better education on the proper storage, application, monitoring and record-keeping for security seals as well as on the meaning of ISO 17712:2013. Associations, shippers and carriers can obtain seals of all grades from ISMA members and their approved distributors with confidence that the product and its producer’s security-related practices meet or exceed those called for in ISO 17712:2010.

Regulatory and law enforcement bodies can continue to turn to ISMA for counsel about seal industry practices and for collaboration about ways to improve the quality of seals and seal industry practices. Collaboration also includes information sharing about criminal techniques to bypass and tamper with seals, and ways to improve designs to reduce vulnerability to undetected tampering.

GCSEAL offers a full range of security products to various industries such as General Transport Companies, Shipping, Aviation, Chemicals, Oil and Gas, Food and Beverages, Pharmaceuticals, Communications, Casinos, Security Companies, Banks, CIT and Manufacturing. GCSEAL has all relevant ISO product and manufacturing certifications. Additional to this – the company is a full member of ISMA – Int. • Why Use Security Seals?

Many seals are being developed to meet specific criteria for different applications, some of these criteria are defined by programs such a C-TPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) and other international requirements, but often the requirements for security seals are entirely defined by the application or specific situation in which the security seals are being used.

Within the logistics industry, a very large percentage of tampering of security seals is done, even before the tote box, truck trailer or ocean container departs from its point of loading. Therefore, users of security seals that make a conscious decision to utilize security seals that are specifically designed to provide easy detection of pre tampering, will harvest the benefits of decreased pilferage.

In other words, security seals that provide easy identification of pre- tampering also serve the purpose of being “pilferage deterrent”. Often, the cost difference between using a poorly designed security seal and a uniquely designed product that adds real value in the supply chain is only a few cents per seal, so a cost-benefit analysis will most likely prove that it pays to choose good security seal designs.

  • What Is A Security Seal?

Security seal features are precisely what distinguishes poorly designed security seals from unique and innovativesecurity seal designs. Tamper resistance- and tamper evidence features serve a real purpose, and they add value.

The reason why GCSEAL has grown to become the world’s second largest and fastest growing manufacturer of tamper evident security products is our proven dedication towards developing unique products designs that offer real value to the supply chain.

At GCSEAL we take pride in our high quality products. We ensure that every seal which goes out of our manufacturing plant is of the highest quality and high standards. We use the best quality raw materials to build our products, to ensure the products we supply are of best quality. All our products go through a rigorous quality check to make sure they are of the highest standard possible.
